The Pierre and Anne de Bourbon Hotel
My precious, my treasure!
Discover the unusual history of Trévoux with a visit to the Musée Trévoux et ses Trésors. You’ll be immersed in the history of the ancient Principality of Dombes, whose influence was measured on a European scale. Unusual collections showcased on two levels through scent and touch!
The presentation of the collections will enable you to discover the different treasures made in Trévoux, and the techniques involved in their manufacture.
HE TELLS YOU
As a sovereign principality, the Dombes was careful to establish a highly advantageous tax system, which made Trévoux the region’s Monaco. Goldsmiths and goldsmiths, attracted by more favorable conditions than in France, settled here in large numbers . Romain, an enthusiast of Trévoux history
The visit
During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to admire treasures such as the statue of “Saint John the Evangelist” or “The Chariot of Love”, a fragment of mural painting. Previously hidden, they were discovered during the building’s renovation. Here you can discover a unique heritage and its associated techniques:
Coinage, metal refining, goldsmithing, hallmarking, diamond dies…
Manuscripts and printed works, including “flagship works”: Mémoires de Trévoux and Dictionnaire de Trévoux.
A spinning wheel, a magnificent spinning machine, completes these collections.
All that shines through the centuries
Ptsss… don’t miss the theatrical tour “Tout ce qui brille à travers les siècles” (Everything that shines through the centuries), where you’ll meet characters in flesh and blood and in costume who will tell you all about the original history of Trévoux and its crafts! Let’s take a trip back in time! Find out more about this tour in the Pays d’Art et d’Histoire program.
