Dombes Parliament

  • The former Dombes Parliament has amazing paintings on the themes of Justice and Peace in the hearing room. It's still a place where justice is done as it's district court. Guided tour from Tourist Information.

  • In 1523 King François I took control of La Dombes and set up its parliament in Lyon.

    In 1696 Louis-Auguste de Bourbon, Duke of Maine, moved the parliament from Lyon to Trévoux which became Dombes’ capital. The duke had a new court built whose hearing room still stands today.
